KANSAS — As Kansas college students pack up to go to school,  Commissioner of Insurance Sandy Praeger says they should also pack something to cover their insurance needs.  She says, students should have copies of their insurance cards and know how to seek medical treatment.  Fortunately, because of the Federal Affordable Health Care Act, nearly all young adults up to age 26 can now stay on their parents’ health insurance.  She says parents should check with their insurance agents to see whether their family homeowners policies extend to children away at school.  If not, Praeger says renters’ insurance would be a good idea.
