OTTAWA — An Ottawa man received two months in jail and three years of probation for accidentally shooting a 4-year-old Ottawa boy in January. After his attorney appealed his original sentence, Brian Bruno received mostly probation during a hearing Monday in Franklin county district court. Bruno was ordered not to have any contact with the boy, nor can he possess a firearm. He must also register under the Kansas offender registration act. Bruno was convicted of accidentally shooting the boy in the leg while he was showing off a handgun in their north Ottawa home. Although he was living in the home, Bruno isn’t the boy’s father.
