OTTAWA — Four people from Wichita ended up in the Franklin County jail this weekend after Ottawa police collared them as they were trying to leave the Wal-Mart Super Center parking lot Saturday evening. Wal-Mart called police to report that someone was trying to return items they didn’t buy, Capt. Adam Weingartner said. Police pulled over a vehicle in the 2100 block of Princeton. Weingartner said the officers found drugs and property that may have been stolen. Officers are trying to trace the property, he said. An officer recognized one of the four people as someone who may have been a suspect in a local theft case from several months ago, he said. Deshawn Evans, 38, was booked into the jail for suspicion of possession of methamphetamine. Joseph Richard, 50, was booked into the jail for suspicion of possession of cocaine. Tamyl Johnson, 50, was booked into the jail for suspicion of possession of meth, ephederine and cocaine. There were also two arrest warrants from other counties for her. Juanita Butler, 45, was booked into the jail for suspicion of possession of cocaine and two counts of theft.
