LEAWOOD — A Leawood couple plans to sue Johnson County as a result of a bungled drug raid last year by the Johnson County Sheriff’s office. Bob and Addie Harte told KSHB Channel 41 that deputies raided their home in April 2012 and tore apart their home and vehicles without finding anything. The Hartes said they tried to tell the raiders they were at the wrong house. However, after they sued and obtained records of the raid, they discovered that deputies had been watching their home for weeks and even dug through their trash. A test of some of the trash turned up a false-positive for marijuana, triggering a search warrant that led to the raid, they said. The Hartes said they were targeted because they had a hydroponic garden in their basement where they grew tomatoes and squash.
