BALDWIN CITY — The second finalist for the Baker University presidency visited the campus before the weekend. Charles Taylor is the vice president of academic affairs and dean of the college of communications at Drury University in Springfield, Mo. The Baldwin City Signal reported that Taylor likes to emphasize increasing the number of students from historically under-represented groups, and using of technology to expand educational opportunities. He said Baker has excelled in those. However, he said he’d like to expand the school’s diversity by attracting more international students. He also said he’s concerned about the possibility of a student debt “bubble” which has the potential to duplicate the mortgage housing bubble debacle. Baker has been looking for someone to succeed president Pat Long who will retire June 30.
