OSAWATOMIE — The mayor of Osawatomie is looking for the most sincere Christmas tree in Osawatomie. For the first, a Mayor’s Christmas Tree contest is under way, and the city is seeking a 16-foot live Christmas tree to display outside city hall this holiday season. If you have a tree on your property you would like considered, contact city hall by Friday with your name and address. Call city hall at 913-755-2146. Submissions will be viewed during the weekend and selected by the mayor. The tree will be removed and set up at city hall next to allow time to decorate for the annual holiday lighting ceremony on Saturday, Nov. 23rd. The winning tree owner will receive $100 and his or her name will be displayed by the tree this season and will be placed on a plaque inside city hall that will be added to each year.
