GARNETT — A shopping spree ended up with a hot deal of a pursuit from Garnett Saturday morning. A couple of suspects loaded a shopping cart full of items at the Garnett Country Mart and then left the store without paying, Anderson County Sheriff Vernon Valentine said. They fled and when officers received the alarm, set out in pursuit. The chase went as far as a heavily-wooded rough area near Scipio northeast of Garnett, where a vehicle described as being used in the theft got stuck. Valentine said investigators have questioned two people in connection with the theft.
