PAOLA–The Miami County Commission has approved spending up to $8500 for an architect to study potential locations for the new county jail. During a recent study session, commissioners met with Zimmerschied Architecture to go over the proposal. The architect will study the County Administration Building site, the current jail location and Osawatomie’s Northland Property to determine building costs. Factors in deciding a location include the potential for expansion, staffing and transportation costs and other factors needed to narrow the selection to one location. The study is to be finished by January 31.
