OTTAWA — The old Lincoln Elementary School site may be up for sale, but the offer brought a response of “no sale” from Ottawa school board members. Monday night, the board was informed by Supt. Jeanne Stroh that a company called Prairie Fire Development Group wants to buy the property for $50,000. However, the county valuation notice mailed to the district appraises the site at a little more than $152,000; “a significant different from what is being offered,” Stroh said. Some board members expressed shock at anyone trying to buy the school site for a third of its value. The matter is expected to be discussed at future board meetings.
