OTTAWA — The Ottawa Recreation Commission plans to begin charging fees for recreation programs at the Goppert Center in January. The ORC faces about $80,000 unexpected expenses this year, ORC director Tommy Sink told the Ottawa City Commission Monday. Although the red ink won’t bankrupt the ORC, it will force cuts to many ORC programs without the fee increase, he said. The fees would be $1 per visit for children 6 to 11 years of age and seniors 60 years old and older. The fee for those 12 to 59 would be $2. Children 5 and under would be free. The ORC is expected to approve the new fees at their meeting Wednesday evening.
