OTTAWA — A Topeka tractor company knows a thing or two about keeping customers happy. After Franklin County ended up with a Kubota tractor equipped with a Tiger boom mower that turned out to be a lemon, Sellers Equipment offered to replace the tractor and install the boom mower to it for free, county public works director Jim Haag told county commissioners Monday. The tractor had 856.8 hours but 500 hours of that was at the Sellers shop trying to get it to run correctly, he said. “Neither Sellers nor Kubota representatives have been able to repair the tractor despite the replacement of parts and a considerable time investment,” Haag said. Sellers finally offered to replace the tractor with a new New Holland tractor for free. The company offered a free two-year warranty for the tractor and will extend the warranty on the mower for another year for free, he said. Commissioners wasted no time in scheduling a vote on the deal on Wednesday morning.
