OTTAWA — Ottawa city street crews spent most of the weekend clearing streets of the two-and-a-half inches of snow that blasted into the area, along with high winds and near-record low temperatures. Ottawa Mayor Sara Caylor spent part of the weekend riding along with some of the employees and offering Tweets on their progress, Ottawa city manager Richard Nienstedt said. Although much of the snow was pushed away, ice-melting chemicals don’t work as well during unusually cold temperatures, he said.
