MIAMI COUNTY — Four Osawatomie city council and two Paola city council positions come up for election this spring. In Osawatomie, those seats are presently held by Lawrence Dickinson of Ward I, John Farley of Ward II, Karen LaDuex of Ward III, and Tamara Maichel of Ward IV. In Paola, those seats are presently held by Gee Gee Wilhoite of Ward 2 and Aaron Nickelson of Ward 4. To file in either city, candidates can either submit a petition of voters or pay a filing fee with the city clerk by noon Jan. 21. If more than three individuals file for the same position, a primary election would be Feb. 25 to reduce the number of candidates to three.
