HAVANA, Kan. — A southeastern city clerk has been charged with embezzling funds from the city and from her church. Diana Cox, 67, was charged with one count of bank fraud and one count of wire fraud, U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom said. Cox is accused of stealing nearly $15,000 from the city of Havana, population of 85, and nearly $45,000 from Cross Point Baptist Church in Caney. She is accused of using money from her church’s accounts to pay her daughter’s mortgage, Grissom said.
