WOLF CREEK — The top nuclear executive for a Missouri utility is the new chief executive officer and chief nuclear officer at the Wolf Creek nuclear power plant near Burlington. Adam Heflin was chief nuclear officer for Ameren Missouri’s Callaway Energy Center near Fulton, Mo. Heflin compiled an excellent an excellent leadership and performance record at Callaway, which is nearly identical in design to Wolf Creek, Westar Energy president Mark Ruelle said. Heflin is credited with leading initiatives that saw major operational, safety and cultural improvements at the Callaway Energy Center, Ruelle said. Wolf Creek is owned by Kansas Gas and Electric, a Westar Energy subsidiary; Kansas City Power & Light and Kansas Electric Power Cooperative.
