OTTAWA — Long-time Ransom Memorial Hospital chief executive Larry Felix has announced he’ll retire from RMH and health care effective Feb. 28. Felix said he has been in health care 41 years, starting as respiratory therapy in hospitals and clinics, later in air transportation at the KU Medical Center, and working in critical and burn care units; and as a hospital administrator 24 years, including 14 at Ransom Memorial Hospital. “It’s been so been my honor to serve the community through service through Ransom Memorial Hospital,” Felix said. “It’s been a fantastic experience for me. Frankly, it hasn’t always been fun but it has been important… I want to tell the community I have done my best.” Felix said he leaves at a time when the hospital is in good shape in term of facilities, equipment and finances. The hospital trustees will hold a special meeting at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in Conference Room A. They’ll discuss the recruitment of new CEO and forming a search committee to find a successor to Felix.
