WESTPHALIA — A Westphalia student has won second place in the Kansas VFW’s Patriot’s Pen program. Adina Ratzlaff, who was sponsored by the Garnett VFW post and auxiliary, received $100 for her second-place finish in the state contest. For this year’s contest, students wrote an essay 300 to 400 words in length on the theme “What Patriotism Means to Me.”
