OTTAWA — The city of Ottawa will get its day in court in a legal battle with Franklin County’s insurance company concerning the Franklin County 911 emergency dispatch center. A judge has scheduled a jury trial for the lawsuit April 21-22 in Franklin County District Court. KCAMP, the Kansas County Association of Multi-line Pools, paid nearly $200,000 after a towing company sued the county over how dispatchers assigned towing calls for accidents. The towing company later withdrew the lawsuit. However, KCAMP wants the city to pay $100,000, or half of the legal costs. The city has refused. The lawsuit is one reason the city sought to change the agreement on how the city and county share the costs of the 911 center. The city and county agreed to a new contract in the county assumed all legal liability for the 911 center.
