LAWRENCE — The Land Institute’s Wes Jackson will be among the speakers at a Kansas University symposium Friday on the future livelihoods and survival of rural towns. The KU school of law is holding the conference titled “Preventing the Ghost Town: What Rural Communities Need to do to Survive in the Modern Economy.” KU said the event is full, but day-of registrations may be available as space allows. Jackson will be part of a panel discussing issues involving attempts to maximize land usage beginning at 10:30. National and state experts will talk about challenges involved as rural communities try to survive.
