LAWRENCE – A 46 year old man is in critical condition after being stabbed in the throat at a Lawrence shelter on Thursday afternoon. According to the Lawrence Journal-World, the incident occurred in the dining hall of the shelter and other residents intervened and broke up the attack. The suspect has been identified as 21 year old Christopher McKay, and he was taken to a Lawrence hospital for a mental evaluation before being booked for first degree attempted murder. The unidentified victim, who is the kitchen manager, was transported to a Kansas City area hospital.
