The play taskforce plans two big weekends, and they need you.
The group wants community volunteers to help build the new playground set at forest park.
Build days are today and the next Saturday from 9:30 to 12:30 and 1 to 4, on each of the days.
Organizers are still taking names for those who wish to volunteer for one of the shifts. To volunteer, email Lisa Rivers at [email protected] to sign up for a shift. While the first day we are really seeking those who can carry heavier weight, the second day will bring all sorts of tasks like raking and putting up border. “I am thrilled to be this close, to be a part of building something for my children, and so happy the weather is clear!” said Chairperson of the Taskforce, Fonda Rose.
At the conclusion of the build day on the 29th, at 4 p.m., a ribbon-cutting for the playground is scheduled. Families, individuals and donors are invited to come and celebrate. “I couldn’t be happier that we are going to finish this project and open it to the children that very day” said Mayor Sara Caylor, also a member of the Taskforce. “We have also been grateful for the community support through all the fundraising, recycling of ink cartridges and electronics. Together we are making Ottawa better each and every day. 10:27 a.m. Saturday March 22, 2014
