OTTAWA – Although the new fees for using the Ottawa Recreation Commission’s Goppert Building have been in effect for almost three months, the controversy over them doesn’t seem to go away. A t Monday night’s meeting, school board member Dennis George requested that Supt. Jeannie Stroh schedule a meeting with the ORC and the Ottawa City Commission to discuss the fees. “They have some issues on attendance now ever since they implemented those fees,” George said. He said the number of people using the Goppert Building has fallen sharply and he attributed the decline to the fees. The ORC imposed the fees because of unexpected expenses in operating the new facility.
