OTTAWA — The Ottawa school board approved the purchase more than 700 new Chrome Books computers for Ottawa High School students Monday night. The staff has to be creative because the computer programs for the Chrome Books cannot be downloaded, said Dr. Ryan Cobbs, high school principal. The staff will try a work-around by buying a server to contain the programs, and which the Chrome Books can access via the Internet, he said. That work-around would cost $30,000 for the server, compared to $400,000 device to download the programs, he said. The cost of the new computers will be a little more than $200,000.
