OTTAWA – The Franklin County Sheriff’s office said a car hit a calf in the 2100 block of Labette Road southwest of Ottawa Monday evening. Clayton Watts II was trying to return the calf to a pen when it became spooked and darted into the path of an eastbound car driven by David Wells of Ottawa, the sheriff’s office said. Neither Watts nor Wells were injured. However, the calf was severely injured and the sheriff’s office said it was going to be euthanized by the owner.
