EUDORA — Conservative Republican Beverly Gossage, Eudora, has formally filed to run for Kansas insurance commissioner. A former teacher, Gossage is the director of HSA Benefits Consulting. She said she intends to restore what she calls free-market, consumer-driven principles to the health insurance sector. She says that includes abolishing Obamacare. She will oppose David Powell of El Dorado, who is also seeking the Republican nomination. Dennis Anderson of Overland Park is the only Democrat to file. The winner will succeed moderate Republican Sandy Praeger, who isn’t seeking re-election. Praeger drew the ire of conservatives for her support for Obamacare.
