LAWRENCE – A Lawrence man has been charged with attempted murder in the second degree in connection with the shooting of a motorist driving along U.S. 59 south of Lawrence on Memorial Day. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Department said Edward Joseph “EJ” Parker was booked into the county jail Monday night for the shooting of Skylar Workman, who is recuperating in an area hospital. The southbound lanes of U.S. 59 just south of Lawrence were closed for an afternoon following Memorial Day while investigators combed the area. The investigation into the shooting continues.
