WELLSVILLE –The city of Wellsville is in the midst of an issue that occupied Ottawa a few months ago — should the ban on pit bulls be lifted? Wellsville has banned the breed since 2004, but during an hour-long public hearing Monday night at city hall, many speakers urged city council members to modify the ban to simply outlaw vicious dogs, not a specific breed. Council member Mike McAfee said the fairest thing to do is to let everybody in the city vote on it. The city council is expected to discuss the issue further at its next regular meeting July 9.
