NEW STRAWN — A 72-year-old Melvern woman was taken to a Topeka hospital after her car was hit by a semi-truck on U.S.75 north of New Strawn Tuesday morning. Linda Wilks was driving south on U.S. 75, three miles north of New Strawn, when her car drifted across the center lane into the path of a semi-truck driven by Valeriy Kambur, 37, North Highlands, Calif., the Kansas Highway Patrol said. Kambur tried to avoid her by going left of center, but struck her car on the passenger side. She was taken to Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka. He wasn’t injured. They were both wearing seat belts.
