LOUISBURG — It will be for the whole brass ring but the Miami County candidates forum will involve a few people. Because no Democrats filed, the winners of the republican primary election will win seats on the Miami County Commission and in the Kansas State Senate. The candidates forum is 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Louisburg Middle School. Damon Dennis will be the moderator. In County Commission District 1, Phil Dixon, Nate Apple and Jacob Vickrey, all of Louisburg, are seeking the GOP nomination. In District 5, Danny Gallagher, Paola, Merle McKoon, Paola, and Beverly Shane, Louisburg, are seeking the Republican nomination. Because Pat Apple resigned after he was appointed to the Kansas Corporation Commission, there is also an off-year election for his Senate District 37 seat. Molly Baumgardner was appointed to the seat and served in the last week of this year’s session. She’s being challenged by Charlotte O’Hara.
