LYNDON — A Winfield woman was sentenced Monday for Medicaid fraud in Osage County. Sherry Benson, 41, was ordered to repay nearly $5,400 to the Kansas Medicaid program after pleading no contest to fraud charges, Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt said. Benson was sentenced to 12 months of probation. Benson was employed as a personal care attendant and billed the Medicaid program two years ago for more than 400 hours of services she didn’t provide, Schmidt said. He said the person Benson claimed to be caring for was behind bars in Oklahoma during the time she billed for the services.
