CLINTON LAKE — CLINTON LAKE — A bicyclist who was killed Wednesday afternoon when he was hit by a pickup truck south of Clinton Lake has been identified as Cal Melick, 66, Lawrence. Melick was riding his bicycle east in the 800 block of North 950 Road when he was struck by a west-bound pickup truck driven by Werner Anderson, 69, rural Lawrence, Sheriff’s Lt. Steve Lewis said. A preliminary investigation indicates Anderson was passing another west-bound vehicle when he struck Melick, Lewis said. Anderson was taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Once the reports on the incident are complete, they will be submitted to the district attorney’s office for review. The road was been closed most of the afternoon.
