A car collision on U.S. Highway 59 near mile marker 124 has claimed the life of a Garnett woman. The Kansas Highway Patrol says the incident occurred on Thursday afternoon when 19 year old Casey Butterfield was following a semi-truck and for some unknown reason, veered into on-coming traffic. Butterfield’s car struck an automobile driven by 19 year old Allison Schulz of Princeton, who also had a one week old infant in the car. Authorities say the baby was properly restrained and both the mother and the baby were taken to Ransom Memorial Hospital with unspecified injuries.
