HILLSDALE LAKE — A boating accident on Hillsdale Lake was among the incidents handled by state game wardens over the Labor Day weekend. Wardens investigated the accident at Hillsdale Lake, said Ron Kaufman, of the Dept. of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism. A person tried to climb onto an inner tube and got tangled in the tow rope at the same time the boat accelerated, he said. The victim was transported by ambulance for treatment. Elsewhere, two hunters were accidentally shot by pellets fired other hunters Monday, which was the start of the dove-hunting season. Another boater at Cheney Lake near Wichita was injured after he dived off a boat head-first into shallow water. The victim was taken by helicopter to a Wichita hospital. Wardens also arrested five boaters for boating under the influence at five different lakes. They also had to rescue one drunken young woman who had been kicked and pushed from a boat into the water at Perry Lake. She could not swim and was taken to shore and treated for swallowing water. The operator of the boat she was pushed from was one of those arrested for boating under the influence. Wardens also used an air boat to search Perry Lake for a man involved in a stabbing at the lake.
