GARNETT – Don and Bonnie Lile have been named the grand marshals of the Garnett Area Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade at 6:30 p.m. Saturday on Garnett’s town square. The Liles have been long-time community volunteers. They served on the original steering committee of the Anderson County Relay for Life, and continued in the same capacity all the years the event was held. She served on the original steering committee for Heeling for Health. Both serve on the Spirit of Christmas Committee and have been leaders of the Garnett Boy Scout Troop 126, and are active members of the Garnett Trinity Lutheran Church. He recently received the Kansas Hunter’s Education instructor of the year award for Region 5. Their son Nathan, was killed in a traffic accident in 1996. They both said that the people of Garnett and the surrounding communities did much more for them at that time than they could ever begin to repay.
