DULUTH, Minn. — A Minnesota man was sentenced 20 years in federal prison for robbing the Great Southern Bank in Ottawa three years ago, and 25 years for kidnapping his ex-wife in Minnesota and taking her to Mexico. Timothy Caskey robbed the Ottawa bank after he grabbed his ex-wife and fled to Mexico. Mexican state police captured him and rescued her. The Kansas case was transferred to the federal court at Duluth, Minn. U.S. District Judge John Tunheim dismissed another charge, interstate domestic abuse. Caskey immediately filed an appeal in federal court. Caskey’s attorney filed a protest because Tunheim departed from federal sentencing guidelines to add more time to his sentence.
