TOPEKA — It may not be the final frontier but Truckhenge is good enough to attract Capt. James T. Kirk.  Actor William Shatner, star of the TV shows “Star Trek,” ”T.J. Hooker” and “Boston Legal,” will drive his weirdly-spacey three-wheeled motorcycle called a Rivet through Kansas Thursday.  He’ll go through Topeka and Wichita but will pause at Truckhenge in rural Topeka during his jaunt through Kansas Thursday.  Truckhenge, on the Ron Lessman farm, is a Stonehenge-style collection of antique trucks jutting out of the ground, as well as other folk art of junk and recycled materials, although Lessman says Shawnee County planning and code officials don’t have as an artistic view of his collection.  Shatner, accompanied by a convoy of American Legion motorcyclists, are going  2,400 miles from Illinois to Los Angeles to raise money for the American Legion’s LegacyS program.  On a Legion website dedicated to his odyssey, Shatner said as he boldly goes forth to LA, he’ll seek out new barbeque joints.
