BUCYRUS — A 61-year-old Osawatomie man was hospitalized following a two-vehicle accident on U.S. 169 in southern Johnson County Thursday afternoon. Esther Martin, 62, Bucyrus, and Gildo Vargas, Osawatomie, were driving south on U.S. 169 when Martin slowed to make a right-hand turn on to Lone Elm Road and Vargas’s car struck the back end of Martin’s pickup, the Kansas Highway Patrol said. He was taken to Overland Park Regional Medical Center. She wasn’t injured. They were both wearing seat belts.
