OTTAWA — Part of the Prairie Spirit Trail in Ottawa will be closed beginning today for about a week, weather permitting. The embankment is caving in at a spot about 200 feet south of 11th Street, city public works director Michael Haeffele says. The drainage tubes that flow water from the east side of the trail to the west have developed structural problems, he said. The repair work to the tubes will require the trail to be closed from 11th to 12th streets for about a week, he said. The Prairie Spirit Trail stretches 51 miles from Ottawa to Iola and is a state park.
