HILLSDALE LAKE — A man drowned at Hillsdale Lake Sunday night. The Miami County Sheriff’s office didn’t immediately identify the man. Authorities were alerted at 7:19 p.m. about a man who disappeared while swimming at Hillsdale State Park’s Jayhawk Beach, Miami County Sgt. Scott Fisher said. Witnesses reported the man had trouble staying above water and went under and didn’t resurface, he said. That prompted a search by Miami County emergency workers, state park rangers and dive teams from Osawatomie, Overland Park and Johnson County. The man was found at 10 p.m. in nine feet of water approximately 20 yards from shore.
