OTTAWA — The city utilities department has started flushing all of the city’s water hydrants. The utilities department said the process of flushing all of the city’s water hydrants will take about a month. Crews were to start today at First and Willow and work south and then go north of the river later. Residents nearby could experience low water pressure while a hydrant is being flushed. In some cases, residents could be without water for a half-hour to an hour. Motorists may also encounter water gushing from hydrants or water rushing in the street.
