LAWRENCE — Fourteen people have filed applications to fill the vacant seat on the Lawrence City Commission.The person chosen by other city commissioners will serve out the unexpired term of former commissioner Jeremy Farmer. Farmer resigned under fire last month because of financial questions at just food, a local food bank where he worked as executive director. The city of Ottawa is also looking for applicants to fill the vacancy of Sharon Geiss, who resigned because she’s moving out of the city to run a bed and breakfast near Wellsville. Applications are available at Ottawa City Hall, or online at the city’s Web site at www.ottawaks.com. The deadline to apply is Sept. 25.
