OTTAWA — The Play Task Force and the city are looking for volunteers to help build a playground system at Ottawa’s Walton Park, which is on the south side of Walton Street between South Burroughs and Cherry streets.  The work day will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 31.  In the case of bad weather, the workday will be postponed to Nov. 7. Volunteers must be 16 or older.  Volunteers will install platforms and swings, setting posts and other tasks, city public works director Michael Haeffele said.  The Play Task Force picked the park for the playground system two years ago because of a study that showed the area as a play desert  because of the density of the population and the distance to another park with playground facilities, he said.  For information, call the public works department at (785) 229-3630.
