OTTAWA — A few weeks ago the Ottawa school board expressed concerns about food safety at the middle school after several cases of moldy food were discovered. At Monday night’s meeting, the board got a report on exactly what went wrong from Jack Zupan of OPAA Food Management.  Bread was stored in the refrigerator over spring break and no one checked it before it was set out for lunch, he said.  Local manager Jody Harrell dealt with the situation immediately and did a review of food safety procedures with the staff, he said.  The board then renewed the district food contract with OPAA for next year.
