LANE — A 26-year-old Osawatomie woman and her 7-year-old passenger were injured when their car hit a dog during a driving rainstorm Wednesday afternoon in the extreme southeast corner of Franklin County.  Elizabeth Wright was driving north on U.S. 169 just north of Virginia Road while it raining hard and didn’t see a dog standing on the highway, the Kansas Highway Patrol said.  After she struck the dog, her car crossed the center line and went into the south-bound ditch, striking a culvert and flipping over onto the driver’s side.  Wright and her passenger, Kaiden Reynolds, were taken to Miami County Medical Center in Paola.  The highway patrol said they were both wearing seat belts.
