OTTAWA — Franklin County commissioners are expected to receive recommendations from a special citizens’ group on a search for a new tourism coordinator soon.   County administrator Jon Holmes said the group has been vetting two proposals to handle the county’s tourism efforts, that from the existing Franklin County Convention and Tourism board, and the Ottawa Area Chamber of Commerce, which held the original tourism contract.   They should have a recommendation for commissioners during the first part of August, he said.  The winning group would operate the Franklin County Visitors Center on K-68 in east Ottawa, develop and coordinate tourism strategy and over see the county’s tourism fund, which is financed by a special sales tax on motel rooms.  Earlier this year, following a feud with some members of the convention and tourism board, commissioners decided to reopen the contract.
