OTTAWA — Ottawa firefighters were called to a report of a camper on fire in the 1000 block of South Pine Street Monday night. The owner had put the fire out by the time firefighters arrived, Ottawa Fire Chief Tim Mathias said. The smoke and small fire was caused by an electrical extension cord being coiled in a circle, Mathias said. When the cords are coiled up, the cords can build up heat over time and can start a fire, he said. No injuries were reported.
