OTTAWA — An Ottawa man accused of arson in a fire that occurred at his home in the 400 block of West First Street a year ago has been sentenced to probation. Although he was originally charged with arson, Wayland Kirkland, Jr., agreed to a plea deal. He pleaded no contest to misdemeanor criminal damage to property and received one year of probation. He’ll also be required to pay a little more than $7,200 in restitution and fees.
