MOUND CITY — Two people were killed and three were injured in a two-vehicle crash at a rural intersection two miles north of Mound City Saturday afternoon. Ryan Boyd, 25, Independence, Mo., was driving south on Linn County Road 1095 and Johnny Stephens, Jr., 38, Independence, Mo., was driving east on Linn County Road 1150 when Stephen’s SUV entered the intersection, the Kansas Highway Patrol said. Boyd didn’t stop at the stop sign and hit the back of Stephens’ SUV, the highway patrol said. .Both vehicles went off the road and into the southeast ditch where Stephens’ SUV hit a utility pole. A passenger in Boyd’s car, Issiah Pendergrass,18, Gardner, was killed. A passenger in Stephens’ SUV, Trista Vail, 34, Butler, Mo., was killed. Both drivers were severely injured. Boyd was taken to Research Medical Center in Kansas City. Stephens was taken to KU Medical Center. A passenger in Stephens’ SUV, 2-month-old KeyLynn Stephens was taken to Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City.
