OTTAWA — The name of the driver involved in a fatal accident on Sand Creek Road northwest of Ottawa Wednesday has been identified by the Kansas Highway Patrol as John Sheldon, 62, Ottawa. Sheldon was driving a semi-truck west on Sand Creek Road when it crossed the centerline. As he corrected, the load in the trailer shifted, causing the semi to tip to the left and leave the roadway, rolling over and coming to a rest on its right side. He was taken to Ransom Memorial Hospital, where he died. The accident did significant damage to the roadway, and the county closed off Sand Creek Road between the 1900 and 2100 blocks for several days.
