OTTAWA – The Ottawa Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire at approximately 12:45 a.m. Friday morning at Building One of The Oaks at Canterbury on Canterbury Court. The fire was initially found on a rear deck. After the bulk of the flames were extinguished, firefighters opened holes in two apartment ceilings to check for expansion, and found the fire had also spread to the attic.

Between fire, smoke, and water damage, four apartments were left unlivable, leaving nine adults and 11 children displaced. They are currently being assisted by the Red Cross. There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters. Total estimated damage is around $25,000.
